From Garland to the world

Sending a package to family in Mexico, a gift to Central or South America, or an order anywhere in the world? We compare USPS, UPS and FedEx international options side by side, help you fill in the customs details, and get it on its way. Most packages that get held at the border are missing something small. We make sure yours isn't.

Mexico, Central America, South America, and more than 200 countries and territories around the world.

What we need for customs

Customs in most countries want to know exactly who the package is for and what's inside it. Bring these with you, and have the receiver send you their details ahead of time if you don't have them:

Customs detailsBring all that apply
1Full nameThe way it appears on their ID.Required
2Complete addressWith the neighborhood or colonia, the postal code and, if you can, a reference such as the cross streets.Required
3Phone in their countryMost carriers require it, and customs uses it to reach them.Required
4Item list & valuesEach item in the box: a plain description ("2 cotton shirts", not just "clothes"), how many, and what each one is worth.Required
5Tax IDIn the many countries that require one, such as the CPF in Brazil, the RUT in Chile or the RFC or CURP in Mexico. Most countries
6Email addressNot always required, but strongly recommended. Customs and the carrier use it to clear the package without delays.Recommended

What's in the box

Every international package needs a list of what's inside. Customs reads it, and a vague list is one of the most common reasons a package gets held. For each item we'll ask for a plain description ("2 cotton shirts", not just "clothes"), how many there are, and what they're worth, plus why you're sending it: a gift, merchandise, documents or a return. Declare real values: a low value can mean delays, fines, or no insurance claim if something goes wrong.

Duties & taxes

Most countries charge import duties or taxes on packages coming in, and in most cases the receiver pays them when the package is delivered or picked up. The amount depends on the country and what's inside. Let your receiver know ahead of time so it isn't a surprise.
